Nestled high and deep in the Sierra Madre Mountains is a small mining town called San Sebastian del Oeste. A remote mountain town trapped in time and one of the best preserved old towns in the entire country. San Sebastian was once one of the most important mining towns in Mexico and all of New Spain in the 17th century. The origins of this impressive and historic Mexican village date back to 1605, where it was settled by Spanish miners who traded the region’s gold and silver.

At one time, San Sebastian del Oeste had more than 20,000 inhabitants, but now only 600 people live there. These settlers are the ones who keep alive the traditions and culture of the town, a true colonial legacy with beautiful streets and houses with beautiful original architecture. A living museum and a true journey into the past of Mexican history and culture.
